NUBU SPRING '16

The SS16 collection of NUBU was inspired by ceramist Lívia Gorka’s work and Chinese ink wash painting. Stilized bamboo and flower patterns appear on the textiles used by the designers, in color as well as black, which is traditionally used for ink wash painting. Colors painted in blocks On canvases set the tone for the collection. Besides dominating naturals, blue, green, yellow, and red are the determnining colors of the collection. Alongside natural fabrics, designers used textiles with an unusual, irregularly puckered finish, jacquard surfaces, and three-dimensionally frilled fabrics. Textile surfaces and raw edges were inspired by Lívia Gorka’s amorphous cerarmics. The ceramic pendants and brooches for the collection were designed in collaboration with the Kezemura brand. In terms of forms, the soft fall of slantly cut textiles and stiff silhouettes create a playful contrast. The various rope belts emphasize the waistline.
