NUBU PRE-FALL '13
The NUBU 2013 pre-fall collection draws inspiration from the works of Russian constructivist artist, Kazimir Malevich. Transposing his abstracting artistic process, NUBU has used a minimalist residential building by Hungarian architect Peter Kis as a starting point. Geometric patterns both printed and created by using various fabrics and structural cuts create the backbone for the collection. The unexpected bridge structures of Kis retro-futuristic designs are being echoed in the dimensions of the garments. The cuts of the AW13-14 collection are softly elegant, and the silhouettes are linear with a sophisticated sporty vibe. The palette evokes Malevich's works, combining black, white, grey, beige, forest green and navy, with silver and bronze accents lending a subtle sparkle. In materials the more usual silks, wool and leather are juxtaposed by modern neoprene fabrics faced with denim, wool-jersey and mesh.
